2010-2011 Crusader Athletic Highlights
Our fall and winter programs enjoyed a Championship season!
Girls Varsity Volleyball Team,coached by Ted Schulte were State Champions for the second year in a row. Patti Abshire, Kate Acker, and Kelli Browning made 1st Team All State, and Aly Kujawa made 2nd Team All State.
Girls Cross Country, coached by Chris Andacht, finished 5th in sectionals. Chelsea Schrubbe placed 14th and Stephanie Pavlick placed 18th at sectionals.
Boys Cross Country, coached by John Gabelbauer, saw Don Kennedy qualifiying for State.
Girls Swim Team, coached by Dan Meinholz, finished 6th All-Conference. Anna Meinholz finished 2nd in State at the 100 meter breaststroke and was Conference Champion for the 100 meter breaststroke.
Boys Varsity Volleyball, coached by Mike Hanneman, finished 1st in the Conference and were the State Champions.
Girls Golf, coached by Steve Plechaty ’74, qualified for Sectionals and placed second in the Conference tournament. Isabella Lambert made 2nd team All-State, 1st team All-Conference, and 4th in the State tournament.
Girls Tennis, coached by Carl Veenendaal, placed 3rd in conference. Sydney Royston and Janice Cantieri made 2nd team Singles All Conference, and Jennifer Benash and Lauren Schmidt made 2nd team Doubles All Conference.
Girls Varsity Rugby, coached by John Waliszewski, finished fourth overall in state, were C0-conference champions, and handed DSHA its first lost in 7 years. Maggie Armstrong, Sarah Dillet, and Amy Gogin made the All-State Tournament team.
Boys Varsity Soccer, coached by John Bisswurm, are State Champions. Aaron Horvat, Patrick McNulty, and Eric Schoendorf made 1st team All-Conference.
Varsity Football, coached by Bill Young, were State Champion runner-up. Bill Young has been coaching at Catholic Memorial for 33 seasons.
